Shanti L. Poesposoetjipto has been the Chairman of PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk since 2008. She received Diplom Ingenieur (Dipl.Ing.) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Technology Munich-Germany (TU-Muenchen), majoring in Computer Sciences in 1974.

Prior to serving as Chairman of the Company, she served as member of the Board of Commissioners from June 2000 until May 2008.

Currently, she holds a number of concurrent positions, among others Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of PT Asuransi Bintang Tbk, Chief Executive Officer of PT Ngrumat Bondo Utomo, Chief Executive Officer of PT NBU Indonesia Utama, Member of the Board of Commissioners of PT Inter Pariwara Global and Senior Business Advisor to PT Praweda Ciptakarsa Informatika.

She is also a Founding Member & Governing Council Member of Singapore Chamber of Commerce Indonesia (SCCI), Honorary Board Member of German-Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (EKONID), Member of Asia Pacific Council of The Nature Conservancy (APC-TNC), Founder & Chairman of the Board of Trustee of Fitrah Nusantara Family Business Foundation, and also Co-founder and Founding Board Member of Family Business Network (FBN) Asia.

In the field of education, she is currently a Member of the Southeast Asia Council of INSEAD Southeast Asia School of Management (France-Singapore), Chairman of the Board of Trustee of Yayasan Pendidikan dan Pembinaan Manajemen (YPPM), Member of the School Council of the School of Business and Management Bandung Institute of Technology (SBM-ITB), Chairman of Advisory Board of AIESEC Indonesia, Advisory Board Member of Sanata Dharma University-Yogyakarta, and Founding member of Wharton e-Fellow, Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania.

In 2002, she was awarded the “Woman Inspire Award of 2002” in the Information Technology Sector in the Asia Pacific region by Singapore Women Business Connection (WBC). At the 15th Anniversary of TNC Indonesia on 20 December 2006, the “Nature Steward” Award was officially conferred to her for her leadership and dedication in nature conservation in Indonesia. On November 2009, she was named as “2009 Woman Entrepreneur of The Year” at the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Award 2009 Indonesia, organized by Enterprise Asia. In July 2013, she was awarded the “Ganesa Wirya Jasa Utama” Award as a form of appreciation from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) for her achievement in the development of entrepreneurship in Indonesia.

In March 2016, she was conferred “Officer Order of Leopold” by the Kingdom of Belgium for her services in developing the business cooperation between Belgium and Indonesia as part of her duties as Chairman of Indonesia-Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg Chamber Executive Board (INA).
